To be eligible for the NDIS, a person must meet certain requirements. The eligibility criteria are as follow:
You must be under 65 years of age when they apply for the NDIS.
You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a protected Special Category Visa.
You must have a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to participate in everyday activities.
You must require support from the NDIS to undertake activities of daily living or participate in the community.
If a person is under 7 years of age, they may still be eligible for the NDIS if they have a developmental delay or a disability that is like to result in a permanent disability.
It’s important to note that the NDIS is not means-tested and a person’s income or assets will not affect their eligibility for support. Additionally, the NDIS provides individualized support, so the type and amount of support a person receives will depend on their individual needs and goals.

What is a Home Care Package?
A home care package is a coordinated package of care and services to help you live independently in your own home for as long as you can.
If you are eligible for the government-funded Home Support Program, an assessor will visit your home to assess your requirements, after which you will be placed on a wait-list.
The benefit of a Home Care Package is that your home care provider will work with you to:
Choose care and services that best meet your needs and goals
Manage your care and service
You may be eligible for subsidised funding or you can access and pay for services privately.
There are 5 types of funding models available to access our Aged Care Services;

There are four different levels of Home Care Packages
There are four levels of Home Care Packages to help meet the different levels of care needs. During your aged care assessment, your assessor will discuss your current care needs and determine the best level to meet them.
The four categories are:
LEVEL 1 – For basic care needs. Provides approximately 2 hours of home care services a week LEVEL 2 – For low-level care needs. Provides approximately 4 hours of care a week LEVEL 3 – For intermediate care needs. Provides approximately 9 hours of care a week LEVEL 4 – For high-level care needs. Provides approximately 13 hours of care a week

Applying for a Home Care Package might seem complicated, but with some guidance, we can make it a little easier for you.
You’ll first need to complete a referral to My Aged Care. The Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) will then evaluate yours or your loved one’s needs for funded support at home. The assessment will then be entered into the My Aged Care system, where you’ll be approved or one of four levels of funding.
When a Home Care Package at your level has become available, this will be assigned to you.
Home Care Package funds aren’t paid to you directly.

4 steps to your Home Care Package
Step 1: Contact My Aged Care
Contact My Aged Care to arrange an interview. Call 1800 200 422 or visit www.myagedcare.gov.au
Step 2: Be assessed over the phone
When you contact My Aged Care, they’ll do a quick assessment over the phone to understand the support you need.You may be referred to:
A Regional Assessment Service (RAS) if you need basic levels of support like meals on wheels or community transport. An Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) for a more comprehensive assessment if your needs are more complex and you need ongoing support.
Step 3: Have an ACAT assessment
An ACAT (Aged Care Assessment Team) assessment decides if:
You’re eligible for a Home Care Package You need other services through transition care, respite care or permanent placement into an aged care home. A member of your local ACAT (usually a nurse, social worker or other healthcare professional) visits you at home. They’ll talk to you about how you’re managing day-to-day. They might ask your permission to talk to your doctor.
They’ll give you information on what services you might be eligible for and how to apply for them. It’s a good idea to have your partner, a family member, friend or carer at your assessment to provide support.
Step 4: Secure your Home Care Package
If you’re eligible, you’ll be allocated a Home Care Packages based on the level of care you need.
There are a maximum amount of packages available in Australia at one time. Once you’ve been assigned a Home Care Package, your funds will be made available through a service provider of your choice. Your service provider will work with you to select, plan out and schedule a range of services to suit your needs and lifestyle.
